A living memorial for your animal companion

SOPHIE AKA BURGER

September 26, 2000 - December 27, 2012
To My Dearest Pug,
I remember the day I saw you. I was suppose to get you for christmas but I got you early instead. I was in the 9th grade and it was around Thanksgiving. I came out from the shower & saw something run across the living room. I begged for a pug for christmas that year and my parents said I wouldn't be getting one and there you were. I remember trying to name you. I wanted a French name & decided to name you "Sophea" & your middle name came from the Clueless movie character "Deon" That was one of my favorite movie. So I named you Sophea Deon McNutt and put that on your birth certificate and registered you because you were 100% a pure breed pug. Your nickname came by bc you had all these toys that were in the shaped of a hamburger. You even had a pet bed in the shape of a hamburger so we started calling you Burger and you would respond to it so it stuck. I remember how we couldn't get you to bark. When you were younger, you use to bark at hair brushes & me & Mal tried to record your bark. We were crazy over our pug. You were extra juicy which we loved but later would cause you health problems. I always tried to get you to dress up bc I wanted you to be a girly dog but you always hated it. But I insisted you be dressed up for every holiday even if it meant the chance being taken a bite out of. So here it is, 12 years later, and your gone. Life will never be the same without you. I know you were just a dog but you were more to me than that. You were like my 4 legged daughter. I hope you had a good life. I knew this christmas would be your last. I hope it wasn't painful leaving us behind. I knew it was the best, Youve lived a good life with a loving home. I'll always love and miss you Burger. Today has been one of the saddest days of my life. I love you and miss you already...
Love,
Mommmy

When God had made the earth and sky,
The flowers and the trees.
He then made all the animals,
The fish, the birds and bees.
And when at last He'd finished,
Not one was quite the same.
He said, "I'll walk this world of mine,
And give each one a name."
And so He traveled far and wide
And everywhere He went,
A little creature followed Him
Until its strength was spent.
When all were named upon the earth
And in the sky and sea,
The little creature said, "Dear Lord,
There's not one left for me."
Kindly the Father said to him,
"I've left you to the end.
I've turned my own name back to front
And called you dog, my friend."
