A living memorial for your animal companion
Rudi's Story

Today is April 22, 2007 and I was born in Woodinville, WA and lived on Schnauzer Lane. I am a female Miniature Schnauzer named Rudi, which is a German female name. I was a little shy, but when this couple came to visit, I was hoping that they would take me home with them. There was two of us to choose from and I was chosen. I then said my goodbyes to the other puppy and off we went to my new home in Kirkland, WA.

It turns out that I was going to have a new brother named Romeo. He was older and was slowing down a little bit. But, I was a little wild and always took his toys which made him more active by chasing me. After about three days of being jealous, I could tell he was starting to like me because we were laying down together everywhere.

Other than taking Romeo's toys every chance I could, I was mostly a loner. I enjoyed just laying off to the side and just watching all the activities that were going on. I was also not as talkitive as other Miniatuer Schnauzers. I did have a unique bark at times. When I was happy or excited, I sounded like a rooster.

I was very cute and small, but the one thing I did that my brothers Romeo and Remington did not do was look out to the side with my eye. It is also know as the Miniature Schnauzer Side-Eye. I only did it occasionnaly.

One of my favorite toys was my alligator which was bigger than me. I use it as a pillow.

It was strange being introduced to the neighbors because they always thought I was a boy. Even though I was wearing a pink harness, that didn't help. I was then getting introduced as Rudi with an 'i', a German female name, so everyone would know that I am not a boy.

It is moving day and it was very busy. We moved to an area that had lots of fields and rabbits. Unfortunately, there were coyotes that roamed the area as well. I really enjoyed the many paths and walking by the church and school. It was a new adventure every time we took a family walk.

Road trip! We left Seattle on May 1st for a months vacation. We were on our way to Sharon, Pennsylvania to visit family. What a journey it was. I was tired being in the car that long but I had lots of fun and enjoyed Buhl Park the most.

March 2, 2010 was a very sad day for me. That is the day that I lost my best friend and older brother Romeo, to cancer and life was just not the same anymore. I missed him very much and was sad and depressed. The neighbors noticed the changed in me and said I need another brother or sister. Hugging the huge stuffed bunny gave me comfort.

My sadness in the loss of Romeo was diminished with the arrival of my new little brother Remington. I was surprised to find out that he was born the same day but three years later. I then became myself again after three days of being jealous, just like Romeo was when I came along.

It is Halloween and Remington and me were entered in a pet costume contest at Willina Ranch. We didn't win but we had a lot of fun. We also got new winter coats this year. Mine was purple and Remingtons was blue. We sure looked good and kept warm.

Today we are moving to Des Moines, WA. I really like the back yard. In the summer time, there were plenty of trees and bushes to provide shade for me. I enjoyed laying in the grass for hours. We hated going to the new Vetinarian but they were really nice. They had a huge pet photo board and Remington and I was added with our coats on. It seems that I was always hitting my head as I ran into the glass door window to go outside. Mommy put a ladybug decal on the sliding glass door window so I wouldn't do that again. Especially because I found a way to escape into the neighbors yard. Mommy was scared because she couldn't find me and I was in so much trouble for that. I then escaped again in the winter time and couldn't figure out how to get back. Mommy finally heard me barking and saw me in the deep snow. She opened the neighbors gate to let me out of their yard. After that, my escape path was blocked and I could not explore anymore.

I was born bow legged and my knees looked backwards, but I walked just fine. Then one day while taking a walk with Daddy down the street I slipped off the curb and injured my knee. Turns out I tore a ligament and needed surgery. Arriving home after surgery, Remington noticed my pink cast and knew I was in pain. For three weeks, I had to keep from running and jumping. Daddy built a fenced area in the living room to prevent my from walking and running. Daddy would sleep with me at night so I wouldn't be lonely. I would get as close as I could in the sleeping bag. Daddy and mommy carried me outside so I can go to the bathroom. Remington was a good big brother who monitored me most of the day as I laid there recovering.

On my last day before going to the Rainbow Bridge, mommy and daddy wanted to make it special for me. Daddy carried me for my last walk down the street. I was too weak to walk myself. It was a sunny day and warm out. I was also taken in the backyard so I couldsee all my favorite things one more time. Mommy put a soft blanket at the door so I could look out just like I aways did and Remington watche me. I think he knew, and was very sad. We also took a picture with Daddy and me, Mommy and me, one final time.

I began to start feeling badly and knew something was wrong. It turns out that I had a heart condition and my kidneys was failing. On May 4th, 2019, one journey would end and a new one would begin as I crossed the Rainbow Bridge. I knew that mommy and daddy were very sad and that I will be missed. But I was excited to once again be with my brother Romeo who crossed the Rainbow Bridge before me.
